Mr. Wayman Lee Baskin, age 79, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia. He was born July 23, 1930 in Carroll County, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Hubert Baskin and the late Mrs. Mae Wood Baskin. Mr. Baskin was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Concord United Methodist Church in Carrollton, Georgia and the Hickory Level Community Association. Mr. Baskin served as a volunteer firefighter for the Hickory Level community. He enjoyed playing golf, gardening, hunting and farming. In addition to his parents, Mr. Baskin was preceded in death by his brother, Eldred Baskin and his infant sister, Sarah Baskin. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Robie Nixon Baskin of Carrollton; his children, Rodney and Peggy Baskin of Temple, Janet and Barry Waters of Carrollton and Randy and Marty Baskin of Douglasville, his sisters and brothers, Mildred McElroy of Carrollton, Earl and Wilma Baskin of Carrollton, Ann and Bing Matthews of Villa Rica, Charis and Calvin Estes of Temple; eight grandchildren, Brooke and Jason Hester, Courtney and Matthew Garner, Alysha Baskin, Katie Baskin, Ashton Waters, Luke Waters, Logan Waters and Drew Waters; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 11:00AM from Concord United Methodist Church in Carrollton with Rev. Gary Lawrence officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Baskin, James Richardson, Danny Skinner, Eric Estes, Luke Waters, Logan Waters, Drew Waters and Greg McElroy. Mr. Baskin will lie in state at the church from 10:30AM until the funeral hour. Interment will follow in Concord United Methodist Cemetery in Carrollton, Georgia. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
