Mr. Wayne Lamar Timmons, age 83, of Villa Rica, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024. He was born July 19, 1941 in Douglas County to the late Mr. Elder Rader Timmons and the late Mrs. Ethel Mae Timmons.
Wayne had a strong love for his family, which was cornerstone of his existence. His devotion was evident in every aspect of his life, and he took pride in his role as a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. The bonds he nurtured will forever remain in the hearts of those he left behind.
A proud veteran, Wayne served his country during the Vietnam War, exemplifying courage and commitment. Wayne was also known for his passion for gardening. He dedicated hours of his time nurturing his plants, growing the biggest and best corn and tomatoes, which brought joy not only to his own table but also to the family and friends fortunate enough to share in his bounty. His tractor was another beloved companion, with which he enjoyed working around the garden, finding peace and fulfillment in the simple pleasures of life. Additionally, Wayne was a fervent supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs, proudly cheering for his favorite team. Raised on the delightful combination of RC Cola and moon pies. Wayne's childhood was a foundation that molded his strength and contributed to the warmth and kindness he extended to others.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Patricia Timmons; brothers, JR Timmons and Virgil Timmons.
He is survived by his sons and daughters in law, Larry Timmons, Greg and Trena Timmons, David and Dawn Timmons; sisters, Ruth Matthews, Betty Hendrix, Jane and Gene Woody, Gaylon Davis and Belinda and Gary Singleton; five grandchildren, Jonathan and Lauren Timmons, Danielle and Zack Pruitt, Will and Dallas Timmons, Avery Timmons, Alyssa Timmons; five great grandchildren, Sloan, Preslee, Cooper, Hudson, Merrick; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica on Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on Monday, September 23, 2024 at 3:00 PM. Interment will follow at Liberty Baptist Church in Winston.
