Mr. Wesley (Oscar) Abbott, 90, was born October 29, 1934, in Rome, Georgia. He was one of nine children born to the union of the late John Abbott Sr. and Carrie Collins Abbott. He passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family and friends on September 05, 2025. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters and his first wife Hazel Abbott of Thirty-One years.
Wesley attended public schools in Rome, Georgia where afterward, at an early age he moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he attended the Police Academy in which he became a Police Officer and later went into Electrical and Maintenance Work.
Wesley later married Mildred Luster in holy matrimony and they fellowshipped at Higher Hope Christian Ministries in Atlanta. He enjoyed singing with his brothers alongside The Mighty Clouds of Joy Gospel Group. His hobbies were Bowling, Bingo, going to the Casino, Fishing, and watching Old Western Movies and shows. He loved helping others, and no one was a stranger to him.
Wesley leaves to cherish his memories his wife of Twenty-Eight Years, Mildred; his thirteen daughters and seven sons: Betty Jean, Wanda, Tonya, Deanna, Dorothy, Aminah, Pamela, Ruby, Khadija, Tomeka, Shenika, April, and Felicia; seven sons Tony, Milton, Paul, Freddie, Fletcher, Darren, and Ernest; and a step son. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday September 20, 2025 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Douglas Chapel. The Memorial Services will follow at 11:00 AM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Douglas Chapel.
