Wiley Brook Pope, Jr.

Mr. Wiley Brook Pope, Jr., 74, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Sunday, August 13, 2006 at Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica, Georgia. He was born April 21, 1932 in Carroll County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Mr. Wiley Brook Pope, Sr. and the late Mrs. Lilly Mae Pollard Pope. Mr. Pope worked as a truck driver for Cannon Casket Company. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pope was preceded in death by three brothers, William Ray Pope, Ralph Pope and Max Pope; and three sisters, Mattie Mae Tolbert, Annie Ruth Harper and Virginia George. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Jerry Hunter of Lithia Springs, Pat Pope of Carrollton and Nancy Pendley of Calloway, Florida; her sons and daughter-in-law, Dennis Pope of Lithia Springs, Van and Michelle Pope of Douglasville, Archie Pope of Alabama and James Henry of Winston; sister, Martha Vaughn of Carrollton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Almon Pope of Carrollton, Charles and Penny Pope of Clem and James and Paula Coursey of Villa Rica; 14 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Georgia with Pastor Helen M. Shirley officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Ball, Larry Pendley, B. J. Driver, Bea Driver, Terry Smith and Van Pope. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Villa Rica, Georgia. The family will be receiving friends in the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Monday, August 14, 2006 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Tuesday, August 15, 2006 from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM.
