Mr. William Albert Armstrong, age 93, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Wellstar Douglas Hospital. He was born August 9, 1917 in Atlanta, Georgia the son of the late Mr. William Augustus Armstrong and the late Mrs. Alice Sweeney Armstrong. He was a devoted member of the Beulah Church of Christ. He retired from the cotton mill industry after 30 years of service. He worked at Bosch in Atlanta as an order puller. He was avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and enjoyed dirt track racing. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his children, Sheryl Jean Redd and Marshall Armstrong; sister, Naomi Cox; brother, Allen Armstrong. He is survived by his wife, Florence B. Tyson Armstrong of Douglasville; daughter and son-in-law, Lena Sue and Joe Johnson of Waterloo, SC; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Martha Armstrong of Spartanburg, SC, Henry and Yvonne Armstrong of Thomaston, Randy Armstrong of Douglasville and Dana Armstrong both of Mableton; sisters and brother-in-law, Helen and Carl of Greenville, SC, Virginia of Boiling Springs, SC, and Ester of Taylors, SC; 28 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 2:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with David Carnley officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Friday, September 10, 2010 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
