Mr. William Andrew Prater, 67, of Calhoun Drive, Abbeville, Alabama, formerly of Temple, Georgia, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2005 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama. He was born December 18, 1937, in Paulding County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Charlie Andrew Prater and the late Julie Miller Prater. Mr. Prater was of the Baptist faith. He was a In addition to his parents, Mr. Prater was preceded in death by his daughter, Mildred Jeanne Prater and his sister Lorrine Tumblin. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Virginia Nell Hammitt Prater of Abbeville, Alabama; daughters and sons-in-law Sarah and David Williams of Polk County; sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny Andrew Prater of Haralson County, Jackie and Dale Prater of Paulding County, Edward and Rhonda Prater of Haralson County, Paul Prater of Paulding County and Lewis âPeanutâ and Teresa Prater of Haralson County; step-daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Danny Cole of Haralson County and Deborah and Jimmy Smith of Haralson County; step sons and daughters-in-law, David and Denise Johnson of Haralson County and Billy Wayne and Lynn Johnson of Haralson County; one sister, Virginia Shumake of Haralson County; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Connie Prater of Paulding County and Rod and JoAnn Prater of Jasper, Georgia; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 7, 2005 at 4:00 PM from Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Temple, Georgia with Rev. Clarence Agan and Rev. Randall Rush officiating. Musical selections will be rendered by Rev. Corky and Wanda Addison. Pallbearers will be Anthony Cole, Eric Wood, Josh Johnson, Jarad Johnson, Jessie Edwards, DeWayne Hall, Cody Prater and Kendall Williams. Interment will follow at Shady Grove Baptist Cemetery in Carrollton, Georgia. The family will be receiving friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Tuesday, July 5, 2005, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Wednesday, July 6, 2005 from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM.
