William "Bill" Powell Nunis

Mr. William “Bill” Powell Nunis, age 62, of Douglasville passed away Sunday, June 19, 2005 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Nunis was born February 18, 1943 in Douglas County, Georgia the son of the late Mr. James Herman Nunis, Sr. and the late Mrs. Willie Mae Harper Nunis. He was of the Church of God faith and worked in floor maintenance at a nursing home. He was a member of the American Legion Post #145 of Douglasville and the Veteran’s of Foreign War of Douglasville. He was a veteran of the U.S. National Guard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Herman Nunis, Jr. and one sister, Shirley Nunis. He was survived by his wife Mary Alice White Nunis of Douglasville; one sister, Frances Nunis Bowman of Douglasville; one daughter, Teresa Echols of Waco; three sons, Allen Barger and Scottie Barger both of Douglasville, Lawrence Barger of Waco; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Ann Nunis of Douglasville; and nephew David Nunis of Douglasville. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at 3:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny White officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Villa Rica. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel.
