Mr. William âBillâ Wesley Brown, age 70, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice. He was born December 28, 1943 in Columbus, Georgia the son of the late Mr. William Edward Brown, Jr. and the late Mrs. Jean Marie McCarley Brown. He was a decorated veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War. He was decorated with the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Campaign Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 60, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter badge with Rifle Bar M-16, Civil Actions Honor Medal, and Expert Badge with Rifle Bar M-14. He enjoyed spending time with other veterans and their families. He worked as a salesman for Farmerâs Furniture. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and had a great love of history. He was a member of the Frank P. Dorris American Legion Post 145, AmVets Post 118, and the 40/8 Voiture 216. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 371, the Flint Hill Yaarab Temple, and the N.E. Shriners Club. He is survived by his wife, Bernice âBonnieâ Brown of Douglasville; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Jennifer Brown, Jonathan and Heidi Shirey, Frank and Tena Phillips, and Gerald and Marilyn Phillips; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Sammy Rowe; grandchildren, Jessica Delong, Jackson Brown, Chance Emanuel, Raley Shirey, Jonny Shirey, Tambra Phillips, Brandon Corder, Salvatore âSamâ Phillips, Robbie Phillips, and Victoria Phillips; one great-grandchild, Payton Phillips; sister and brother-in-law, Dianne and Al Cross; nephew, Joseph Ganakos. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville, Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Pastor Joshua Smith officiating.
