William Jerald “Jerry” Camp, 84, of Winston, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025. He was born on September 19, 1940, the son of the late James Irvan Camp and the late Virginia Lula Brewer Camp.
He was a family man at heart, who loved his family immensely. He was a man of extraordinary character. Jerry was a retired U.S. Army Officer whose extensive military career was marked by distinction and numerous accolades. Throughout his life, Jerry exemplified the spirit of service, demonstrating an unwavering commitment both to his country and to those he cherished. His proudest accomplishments were not only reflected in his decorated military career but also in the profound impact he had on the lives of those around him.
Beyond his military service, Jerry embraced a variety of interests that brought him joy. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing. These hobbies created lasting memories with friends and loved ones. His passion for gardening was particularly evident as he reveled in sharing the fruits of his labor. Additionally, he enjoyed woodworking, crafting pieces that reflected both his skill and creativity.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-six years, Norma Louise Simmons Camp; brothers, Wayne M. Camp and Jimmy Camp.
He is survived by his children, Sarah (Larry) Morris of Winston, Renae (Dewayne) Hulsey of Whitesburg, Brian (Aprile Lee) Camp of Libby, MT, Todd (Sandie) Camp of Carrollton, Jerry (Julie) Camp of Carrollton; girlfriend, Delree Prince; brother, Joe Camp; sister, Carole Johnson of Arizona; eleven grandchildren, Levi, Logan, Haley, Cory, Cason, Kaylee, Jeff, Josh, CJ, Bryce, and Kaitlyn; ten great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Villa Rica Chapel of Jones-Wynn. Interment will follow at West Georgia Memorial Park.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Levi Morris, Logan Morris, Josh Hulsey, Jeff Hulsey, Cason Camp, Cory Camp and Jerry Crosby.
William's presence will be sorely missed, but his legacy of love, dedication, and craftsmanship will continue to inspire those who knew him. As we remember William Jerald Camp, we celebrate a life that was rich in service, community, and family.
