William Earl Garrett, Jr.

Mr. William “Bill” Earl Garrett, Jr., 76, of Price Road, Carrollton, Georgia passed away Monday, August 22, 2005 at Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica, Georgia. He was born February 18, 1929 in Douglas County, Georgia. He was the son of the late William Earl Garrett, Sr. and the late Molly Jewell Davis Garrett. Mr. Garrett was of the Baptist faith. He had retired after 26 years of service from the United States Air Force having earned the rank of Master Sergeant. He worked as an aircraft mechanic and crew chief. Mr. Garrett was a life member of VFW Post #4548 in Jacksonville, Arkansas; a life member of DAV Cracker State 20; a life member of the Air Force Sergeant Association and a mason with the Jacinto Lodge #216 also in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Survivors include Dolly Meherg of Carrollton; his daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene Vickery of Douglasville, Cynthia and Micah Pritchett of Temple, Sheila and Alan Jordan of Temple and Elizabeth and Joey McCullun of Mt. Zion; his son, James Elvin Garrett of Douglasville; step-son and his wife, Tony Thomas and Paula Slaton of Athens; sisters, Jaqulyn Garrett Harrell of Douglasville and Carolyn Darnel of Douglasville; brothers and sister-in-law, Marion and Jean Garrett of Douglasville and Doyle Garrett of Douglasville; a number of grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at 5:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Dr. Marion Beavers officiating. Interment with full military honors by Robins AFB Honor Guard will follow in the Christus Garden at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens on Hickory Level Road in Villa Rica, Georgia. The family will be receiving friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Tuesday, August 23, 2005 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Wednesday, August 24, 2005 from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour.
