Mr. William Edwin Chatham, Sr., 87, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Friday, March 31, 2006 at Embracing Hospice in Jonesboro. He was born March 25, 1919 in Forsyth, County, GA the son of the late Rev. Walter Mike and Arlie Brannon Chatham. He graduated from Douglas County High School in 1936. He served his country in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He married Catherine McCrackin in Atlanta on May 1, 1948. He was one of the founders of Victory Baptist Church where he was a member and an ordained deacon. He was a Past Master of Campbellton Lodge #76 F&AM. He retired from Atlantic Steel Company in 1981 with 41 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mrs. Catherine McCrackin Chatham of Douglasville; one son, William Edwin Chatham, Jr. of Douglasville and one daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Joe Schival of Douglasville; one sister and brother-in-law, Wynell and John Burrows of Macon; 7 grandchildren, William Edwin Chatham III, Nichole Schival Jenkins, Joseph Schival, Marianthe Atsalis, Johnathan Schival, Yianna Atsailis; Desiree Wetherbee; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be conducted Sunday, April 2, 2006 at 2:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Voyles officiating and Mr. Jimmy Gregg delivering the eulogy. Musical selections will be rendered by Mr. Marshall James. Members of Campbellton Masonic Lodge #76 F& AM will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow at Mozley Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel on Saturday, April 1, 2006 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
