William David Kirkland, 76, of Douglasville, passed away with his family by his side, on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. He was born on December 31, 1948, the son of the late James W. Kirkland and Ruby Mae Agnew Kirkland.
David was a beloved husband, dad, and papaw, who led a life filled with love, laughter, and a strong devotion to his family. He was a sweet and caring man, and he had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel cherished. His family was his pride and joy. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran. David demonstrated the values of the duty and commitment, carrying lessons from his service throughout his life. He was a hardworking man, who demonstrated a great work ethic all his life; he retired as a supervisor from Douglas County Road Crew. David held a strong passion for Georgia Bulldogs football, and he was a fan of the Atlanta Braves.
In his leisure time, David found solace in the great outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He also had a special bond with his Doberman, Naudia. She was more than a pet; she was a loyal companion who brought joy and comfort to his days.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thersa Ann Carl Kirkland; brother Steven “Steve” Kirkland”; sister and brother-in-law, Martha “Blot” and Joe “Buddy” Bramlett; and sister, Diane Kirkland Smith.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and William Guinn; son, Mark Kirkland all of Douglasville; sisters and brothers-in-law Juanita and William McDaniel; Debbie and Richard Tuders all of Griffin; grandchildren, Payton Kirkland, William Kirkland, Nathaniel “Nate” Kirkland; one great-grandchild, Kace; several nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws from his wife’s side of the family as well.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Jones Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Jones Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel. Interment will be at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens.

David leaves behind a legacy of love and fond memories that will resonate in the hearts of his family and friends forever. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who had the privilege of experiencing his kindness and joy. He will be deeply missed, but lovingly remembered by all who’s live he touched.
