William Lee "Bud" Jackson

Mr. William Lee “Bud” Jackson, age 74, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Friday, June 11, 2010 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton. He was born October 6, 1935 in Rossville, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Jesse Leon Jackson and the late Mrs. Marie Payton Jackson. He married Lena Daves on October 7, 1966 in Crossville, Tennessee. His career began in the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean Conflict and in the U.S. Army Military Police. As a young man, he sang in a gospel quartet. After many years of devoted and honorable service to the U.S. Army, he attained the ranking of Master Sergeant E-8, retiring from Fort McPherson in Atlanta. After his retirement from the military, he worked at several professions, including L& D Sales. He was a member of the AMVETS and was of the Baptist Faith. He was a devoted family man and loved his family deeply. Mr. Jackson was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and feeding birds and squirrels. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Hope; brother-in-law, Raul Fernandez and his nephew, Doug Spence. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lena Daves Jackson of Villa Rica; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Kathleen Jackson and Timothy Jackson all of Villa Rica; sisters and brother-in-law, Norman and Moses Spence of Powder Springs and Shirley Fernandez of Villa Rica; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leroy and Dianne Jackson of Panama City, FL and Bob and Wilma Jackson of Asheboro, NC; two grandchildren, Brittany Cole of Villa Rica and Nicholas Jackson of Villa Rica; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, June 14, 2010 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Center Point Cemetery in Temple. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Sunday, June 13, 2010 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. There will be a reception at the Center Point Methodist Church following the interment. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
