William Harold Mobley

William “Butch” Harold Mobley, 80, of Villa Rica, Georgia took his last breath on Friday, January 31, 2025 at his home from heart failure. He had been on Home Hospice care for a few months.

Butch grew up in Savannah, Georgia where he graduated from Savannah High School in 1963. He then attended and graduated from Southern Wesleyan University in Central, SC. As an adult, he taught 2 years at Daniel High School in Clemson, SC. In 1968, he started working at World Book Encyclopedia/Childcraft as a Sales Rep and later District Manager. In 1980, he began working for New York Life Insurance Company as a Trainer. He retired from New York Life after 22 years.

During Butch’s life, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, reading, and telling others about Jesus. He also enjoyed playing games and telling endless stories to his 4 grandchildren. Some of his favorite things to watch were the Atlanta Braves, Andy Griffith Show, Westerns, & Fox News. He also enjoyed listening and singing to Christian songs – especially the classic hymns. Butch spent a large part of his life volunteering in various ministries through bible studies or counseling to others.

Butch is preceded in death by his parents Clem and Grace Mobley; sister Janice Stegall and brother, Richard Mobley. 

He is survived by his wife, Peggy J Davenport Mobley; sister, Rebecca Woodard; his sons Scott (Wendy) and Steve (Becky) Mobley; grandchildren – Deborah, Daniel, Joanna (Nick), Nathan; great grandchild, Aurora and several nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on February 9, 2025 from the Villa Rica Chapel at Jones-Wynn. Interment will follow at West Georgia Memorial Park.
