William Neal Steely, Sr.

Mr. William “Bill” Steely, Sr., age 66, of Whitesburg, Georgia passed away Friday, January 1, 2010 at Wellstar Douglas Hospital in Douglasville, Georgia. He was born January 16, 1943 in Fulton County, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Kilberth Henry Steely and the late Mrs. Gladys McCord Steely. Mr. Steely was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked for and retired from St. Joe Paper Company as a production manager. Mr. Steely was a member of Westview Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the deacons. He enjoyed spending time fishing, reading and golfing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Steely was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Gail Bishop Steely. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William N. “Bill” Steely, Jr. and his wife Janet of Whitesburg; sisters, Louise Bailey of Cleveland; Patricia Robinson of Villa Rica and Beth Haynes of Greer, South Carolina; 3 grandchildren, Holden Steely, Hayden Steely, and Ashley Steely; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, January 4, 2010 at 1:00PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Houston officiating. Interment will follow at West Georgia Memorial Park in Carrollton. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Sunday, January 3, 2010 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
