William Smith

Mr. William Berry Smith, age 81, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Friday, March 9, 2012 at WellStar Tranquility Hospice following an extended illness. He was born May 2, 1930 in Lexington, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Frank Otis Smith and the late Mrs. Ruby Thomas Smith. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Smith retired from Lockheed-Martin where he was an aircraft electrician. He served as a Mason and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing. He was devoted to his family and loved his grandchildren dearly. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Flossie Turner Smith of Lithia Springs; daughter, Darlene Bolduc of Douglasville; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Tanya Smith of Douglasville; sisters, Elizabeth Youngblood of Martinez, GA and Arlene Phillips of Dunlap, Tennessee; brother and sister-in-law, Grady and Pat Smith of Hiram; 4 grandchildren, Lindsey Smith Butler and her husband, Jerrod of Atlanta, Lee Smith of Alabama, Aaron Bolduc and his wife, Anna of Augusta, and Andrew Bolduc of Atlanta; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Graveside Services will be conducted Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville with Rev. Sam Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with the following serving as pallbearers: Frankie Turner, Heath Mitchell, Davey Steadham, Charles Turner, Del Thompson, Ray Yates, Bob King, and Rodney Turner. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of William B. Smith may be made to the University of Alabama Wesley Foundation, 505 9th Street, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35401 (www.bamawesley.org) or the Pregnancy Resource Center, Post Office Box 5668, Douglasville, Georgia 30154 (www.partnerofprc.com).
