Mrs. Willie Ruth Lewis, 90, of Rainey Road, Temple passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2007. She was born January 27, 1917 in Carroll County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. John Henry Gordon and the late Mrs. Elizabeth Gurley Gordon. Mrs. Lewis was a devoted wife and caregiver to her husband for 58 years. She was lovingly known as âGrannyâ to many. With the exception of a few years, Mrs. Lewis was blessed to live in her birth home, which she cherished. She joined New Brooklyn Baptist Church in Temple in 1926 and served her church family as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Lewis was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Herschel Lewis and her grandson, Darrell Lewis. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Spencer Teal of Bowdon; her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Shelia Lewis of Dallas; her grandchildren, Richard Adams, Lonnie Adams, Renee Williams, Tony Lewis and Denise Williamson; great-grandchildren, Timothy Adams, Justin Williams, Kristina Adams, Jase Lewis, Melissa Adams, Hillary Lewis, Dylan Williamson and DeAnna Williamson; step-grandchildren, Ricky Jett and Brian Jett; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Georgia with Rev. Milford Ballanger and Rev. Mark Williams officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Lewis, Waymon Gordon, Donald Gordon, Lonnie Adams, David Williamson and Donnie Lively. Honorary pallbearers will be Wendell Clark, Robert Gordon, Justin Williams and Kristina Adams. Interment will follow in Abilene Baptist Church Cemetery in Carrollton, Georgia.
