It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Yves Lominy, who left this world peacefully on December 15, 2025, at the age of 71. He was born on November 13, 1954, the son of the late Jean Ricot Lominy and the late Helana Thodoe Lominy. Yves embodied a life rich in experiences, love, and cherished memories that will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who knew him.
Yves was a true son of Haiti, his roots deeply embedded in the vibrant culture and tradition of his homeland. His love for good food, particularly traditional Haitian dishes, brought warmth and joy to countless gatherings. A meal shared with Yves was never just about eating, it was an experience filled with laughter, stories, and a celebration of heritage that he held close to his heart.
In a world that often seems to rush by, Yves stood out with his calm demeanor and quiet presence. He was a man who commanded attention not through volume, but through the wisdom of his words. When he spoke, those around him listened, drawn in by the sincerity and thoughtfulness that characterized his conversations. His strength was not just in his physicality, but also in his character—he was a strong man who never met a stranger, greeting everyone with warmth and a welcoming smile.
Yves was a man of God, possessing a strong faith that guided his actions and outlook on life. He inspired those around him with his unwavering calmness and peace, often reflecting a serene confidence that encouraged others in times of trouble. He had a unique ability to comfort through simple gestures, providing support to friends and loved ones with his kind soul.
Beyond his loving spirit, Yves had many interests in his life. He was an avid sports enthusiast, with a passion for basketball. He loved New York City. He also enjoyed landscaping and yardwork. He also had a knack for fixing things.
Yves Lominy will be profoundly missed, not only for the memories he created but for the love he imparted to everyone around him. His legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of those privileged to have shared their lives with him.
